SPRING SHOW 2016 - Saturday April 2nd

SLINFOLD VILLAGE HALL

EVERYBODY IS INVITED TO ENTER

Please read the "Hints for Showing" and "Rules" sections before entering, and contact the Show Secretary, or email us if you have any queries

DIV. I - FLOWERS

(for definitions of narcissus types see bottom of page)
  1. Vase of 5 trumpet daffodils.
  2. One specimen trumpet daffodil.
  3. Vase of 5 large-cupped narcissi.
  4. One specimen large-cupped narcissus.
  5. Vase of 5 small-cupped or pheasant eye narcissi.
  6. One specimen small-cupped or pheasant eye narcissus.
  7. Vase of 3 stems bunch flowered narcissi (multi-headed).
  8. Vase of 3 stems any double flowered narcissi/daffodils.
  9. Vase of 3 stems any miniature narcissi/daffodils.
  10. Vase of 3 stems any other daffodil/narcissus which could not be entered in any of the classes above.
  11. Vase of 10 mixed daffodil and/or narcissus.
  12. Vase of 3 stems polyanthus.
  13. A bowl of growing, flowering bulbs
  14. Vase of any one type of flowering shrub.
  15. Vase of any other one type of spring flower.
  16. *A Flowering Orchid
  17. *A flowering pot plant.
  18. *A foliage pot plant
  19. *1 pan cactus or succulent.
  20. * Please note that Rule 4 applies to the above 4 classes and all are subject to a max. 23cm (9") diameter pot.
    The Bill Cowan Cup will be awarded to the best single bloom exhibited in classes 1 and 2.

    DIV. II - FLORAL ART

  21. An arrangement in a teapot
  22. Exhibit "April Showers", 58.4cm (23") table space allowed.
  23. DIV. III - HANDICRAFT

  24. A painting or drawing of a landscape; not to exceed A3 paper (any medium, unframed, but should be mounted)
  25. Knit a cardie for a Prem Baby to pattern
  26. A photo "A West Sussex Church" - max. 18 x 12.5cm (7" x 5") unmounted.
  27. Any other craft item of your choice (please state if made from a kit)
  28. DIV. IV - COOKERY

  29. One jar of marmalade made from fresh citrus fruit.
  30. 3 Rock Cakes
  31. A Treacle Tart
  32. 3 Cheese Scones
  33. DIV. V - CHILDREN'S SECTION

    Child's age will be considered in judging
  34. An item of handicraft made from a kit.
  35. A poster entitled "Get Sporty for the Olympics" - A4 size
  36. 4 Chocolate Crispy Cakes
  37. A small arrangement of Spring Flowers
  38. A trophy will be awarded for the best piece of children's handicraft in the show

Entry forms to Mrs Janet Walker at 12, West Way, Slinfold, before 9pm on Thursday 31st March. (Late entries - [double fees!!] up to 9pm Friday)

Entry fees per class: Members - 25p; non-members - 35p; children's classes free
Exhibits to be staged between 8am and 10.15am on the morning of the show

Prizes in adult classes: first prize only of £1;
in children's classes: 1st - 50p; 2nd - 40p; 3rd 30p

To help fund our flower shows we need to raise some money now, so we are planning to hold a Cakes, Plants Produce & Preserves Sale at the Spring Show. We would be grateful if every member could supply something for this stall.

Children collect your seed potatoes and bags to grow for the next show and Sunflower seeds for the autumn show
Adults buy a cutting (50p) to grow on and exhibit at the Autumn Show

NEW MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO OUR SHOWS AND MEETINGS
